Grow Green Landscape Austin Water has teamed up with Watershed Protection to encourage landscaping practices that promote good water
quality and water conservation. The new Grow Green landscape design templates
are a guide for Austin area homeowners to help them choose a
style and plant palette that requires less water and fewer chemicals. These guides are a
great starting point if you are considering participating in our Landscape Conversions
Incentive.

Landscape Conversion Incentive Rebate Saving water could save you money. Our customers can get cash back for swapping out their lawns for drought resistant plants.
It is all part of new landscaping rebate program to encourage homeowners to save water.

Rainwater Harvesting Rebates Austin Water has revamped its Rainwater Harvesting Rebate Program to make it easier to use. The program encourages
the collection of rainwater for non-potable uses such as watering your lawn and garden. Rebate amounts are based on
system capacity.

Toilet Recycling Now Available!
The City of Austin will offer toilet recycling at the
FM 812 Resource Recovery Center
beginning Monday,
June 14, 2010. Customers must remove all non-porcelain parts (bolts, flush lever, seat, etc.) from the
toilet(s), disassemble the tank and bowl, and clean and sanitize the toilet(s) with chlorine bleach prior
to drop-off. Products not meeting these conditions will not be accepted. The FM 812 Resource Recovery
Center is open Monday through Friday.

for directions and hours of operation. Bulk drop-offs from plumbers or neighborhood groups are
encouraged to reduce vehicle trips.

2010 Environmental Leadership Report
This report highlights water conservation and environmental efforts and successes by Austin Water for the
past year. The utility’s 2009 effort focusing on water conservation resulted in the lowest one-month per
capita water use in the last 15 years. Conservation, along with the importance of protecting and maintaining
quality drinking water, were topics of community discussions in 2009 and are addressed in the report.
